Warren B. Watkins

Owner, SouthStar Properties

Warren B. Watkins is a licensed Virginia Real Estate Broker and since 1992, has owned and operated SouthStar Properties, Development and Construction Company. In the ensuing years, he has been instrumental in the development of both large and small-scale residential, golf, and mixed-use properties (including H. Smith Richardson Trust properties, Lake Manassas, Treyburn, Turtlewood, Stonewall Golf Club, Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, Shops at Stonewall, Gwinnett Progress Center and others).

 

Mr. Watkins also founded and, prior to its sale, oversaw Virginia Fine Properties, which represented local builders in luxury new home construction sales. From  2010 to 2017, he was a  regional director for the Middleburg Bank. In his early career, he gained vast experience in the construction industry working with Andover Boylan Corporation, Durham NC;  West Durham Lumber Company, Durham, NC; Nello Teer Company, Durham NC;  Precision Walls, Raleigh, NC ;  C.C. Woods Inc, Durham NC and others.

 

Mr. Watkins served as  a Founding Director of  the Stonewall Golf Pro–Am Tournament benefiting the Novant Health System (Prince William Hospital), as a Trustee of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, as a member of the PW I-66 Sector Plan Committee, and as a Sr. Warden and Vestry Member  of the St. James Episcopal Church in Warrenton, Virginia. He also serves as the President for the Piney Island Hunt Club in Currituck County, N.C. 

 

Having graduated from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Arts in Geology, he was a Robert E. Lee grant recipient benefitting historical architectural research for the Town of Lexington, Virginia.  Mr. Watkins also earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Wake Forest University.
